Computation with quantum information involves operations that are nonlinear, which may make some of them less intuitive and less intuitively implementable in a physical implementation. This paper shows that quantum computation with the assistance of quantum computers can be reformulated as a set of idempotent and ergodic operations. The definitions of idempotent and ergodic operations in terms of quantum mechanics are presented. Furthermore, we propose a model for a physical quantum implementation of idempotent and ergodic operations. The erbB family of receptor tyrosine kinases has become increasingly important to the understanding of malignant transformation, cellular proliferation, and metastasis. The erbB receptors are ligand-activated, dimerizing transmembrane proteins. Two classes of ligands for erbB have been identified, the heregulins and the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family. The heregulin class ligands activate the ErbB3 receptor while the EGF family ligands bind to the extracellular domains of both ErbB2 and ErbB3. The type I EGF family receptors, ErbB2 and ErbB3, have been extensively characterized. The type II EGF family members, ErbB3 and ErbB4, have also been shown to undergo homo- and heterodimerization with their respective ligands. These complexes are able to interact with downstream signaling components of the EGF receptor family, further activating tyrosine kinase and PI3 kinase signaling cascades.
